The author of 2018 November symposium’s concept was Klára Škrobánková. In spring 2021, Naďa Satková took over the responsibility for the proceedings. The volume offers an insight into tendencies in contemporary Theatre Directing and Theatre-directing Education. The event was organized by the Theatre Faculty of Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. The proceedings include the selected papers and audio recordings of the presentations by the authors who responded to the editing process. Proceedings and biographies were updated provided that authors were interested. We would like to verify a new format of a multimedia publication. It is divided into thematic sections, just as was the symposium programme. In each section, a brief bio introduces the particular author. There is an abstract of the presentation, and a complete audio recording or text. This redirection from a typical format of the proceedings represents the performative turn in the possibilities of how to present one’s research. We did not want to avoid the written text, but we have chosen audio recordings where it made sense and where it was more suitable.
